Welcome to the future of electric auto racing brought to you by Entropy Racing. EVSR, the Electric Vehicle Sports Racer, is a 100% electric racecar.

Alternate fuel projects have been peeking over the horizon for the past few years. Entropy Racing has been considering options from diesel to hybrids, but ultimately settled on electric for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that it is cutting edge. Electric power addresses many of the public's concerns with both motorsports and cars in general - noise and pollution. Best of all, electric racecar technology is fun and exciting stuff to play with.

At the end of the 2013 race season, Entropy Racing started to give some serious thought to a new project that would showcase the shop’s talents and versatility. The discussion of current trends and exciting projects out in the world had been getting our interest. One of the common recurring themes was that the only truly successful electric race car projects noted were backed by millions of dollars, the world’s best engineers, and years of development. Entropy decided to take a stab at producing a low-cost, viable electric racecar for a variety of events in a small fraction of the time and budget. The result was a complete race car, dyno-tested and ready to race in less than 3 months.

The EVSR is based on a popular sports racing car, which is heavily modified to accommodate the power plant and battery packs in a safe, lightweight nimble package. The frame is constructed of square tubular steel, which is both stout and relatively light. The batteries are contained in reinforced aluminum cases on either side of the car and securely mounted to provide a safety barrier for the driver, while being fully-encased and safe from external damage themselves. Power is provided by an AC electric motor rated at 160 horsepower, with over 200 pound feet of torque instantly available through its entire speed range. The power is transmitted through a conventional automotive differential and custom drive shafts. There are high performance disc brakes on all 4 corners and the steering goes through a very tight rack and pinion.

EVSR has undergone a strenuous testing regimen at the dyno and at the shop. A great deal of programming was required before the car even left the shop for the dyno. Without additional programming, reverse would be good for 130 MPH not to mention all the power curves and battery monitoring that gets built into the software system to keep EVSR on track as long and as competitively as possible.

The Entropy Racing EVSR program is determined and ready to show the racing world that electric race cars are not only possible, but viable and attainable to the racing community, without nearly as many zeroes at the end of the invoice. EVSR is less revolutionary, than it is evolutionary. EVSR has grown from solid racing principals and a well proven chassis. We look forward to it paving the way for many EVs on the track competing, quickly, cleanly and quietly.
