We are very proud of the materials we have developed over many years of helping people recover lost pets. Since 1998, our database of lost and found reports has reached a critical mass of users and followers in Ohio. This has resulted in a very high rate of successful reunions - about 40%..

Through our Ohio Facebook page we have attracted many self-appointed Pet FBI "special agents" - followers that actively look for lost pets and search other sources of information. We hope to develop or co-op other Facebook pages dedicated to lost and found pets. We think that Facebook and the database at www.PetFBI.org should work in tandem. Most people know of Facebook, but not of Pet FBI. We hope to collect all reports on the centralized, database at petfbi.org. Because visitors can do a targeted search you have complete control over your lost / found pet report. It can be edited or inactivated at any time.

Before committing to upgrade our database and expand our area of service to the entire U.S. we carefully researched the many other lost and found pet web sites. At the risk of sounding boastful or self-promoting, we think we can safely say that petFBI.org offers the ONLY lost and found pet database with the following qualities:

1)The Pet FBI database is strictly non-commercial. All features are absolutely free.
2) No registration is required.
3) The database covers all kinds of pets, not just cats and dogs.
4) The forms are easy to use and designed to be failsafe.
5) The database form prompts the user for all the critical information.
6) Users can upload huge photo files (up to 15 megabytes) without having to reduce them
7) Lost or found reports can remain posted for 4-5 years, without needing to remember to renew.
8) Users have complete and direct control over their report. They can edit, update or inactive it at any time.
9) “Losers” and “finders” are free to contact each other directly. There is no intermediary to waste precious time.
10) The Pet FBI database is designed for a well-defined search to zero in on the relevant reports
11) Reports are searchable by zip code with the user's choice of radius (in miles). The user can cast as wide a net as necessary.

13) Through 15 years of experience we have compiled the most comprehensive advice and useful tips for recovering lost pets, including advice for specialized situations, like dogs lost away from home.
